A Recent Residential Project:
Baseline House, Boulder, Colorado
Completed Spring 2008
Scope: Substantial Remodel and addition to historic home. Addition of 1200 Square ft to the front of the original 1904 historic home, while preserving the artistic feel of the original home and maintaining the level of craftsmanship found in the original design. The mechanical systems, electrical systems, and the plumbing have been upgraded throughout the entire home. The home now features in-floor radiant heat with a state-of-the-art high efficiency boiler, upgraded insulation systems, commercial grade swamp cooling systems, custom design windows with dissimilar interior/exterior glass units for sound buffering, custom walnut kitchen, marble bathroom floors/walls, high-end plumbing and bath fixtures throughout, custom lighting and modern wiring systems. The 100 year old knob-and-tube electrical wiring system was replaced with current technology and new devices.
All work was performed with the preservation of the historic appearance and handcrafter feel of the home in mind. Brick was sourced in sixteen different colors from deconstruction projects in Denver and Pueblo, to integrate the new construction seamlessly into the original structure. Eco-friendly products and finishes were used throughout the home. The living room floor is a diamond polish finish concrete floor with integral radiant heat. Traditional masonry, timbers, and carpentry techniques were used to give the addition the feel of a structure that has been with us for a couple of generations. The changes to the interior bring the home into the present, and prepare it for the future.
